Formulex™
Formulex™ is Vege Tech’s line of high-value botanical extract ingredients. Formulex™ extracts are value-added due to their unique proprietary extraction process which captures the beneficial constituents of the original botanical matter, while providing the formulator with multiple benefits like low color, low odor, wide choice of carriers, reasonable Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs), cost efficient pricing.
Formulex™ extracts are manufactured from the finest quality botanicals, sourced both domestically and globally. Specific parts of the plant are utilized as per the CTFA/INCI monographs. Prior to conducting the extraction process, close attention is given to the unique elements inherent to each botanical which the Formulex™ process will separate and capture.
The extraction process allows for the isolation and separation of components without transforming them into other undesirable by-products. In addition, valuable volatile plant compounds are solubilized during the extraction process and maintained in the finished extract at the original levels. The end results are Formulex extracts with consistent quality from lot to lot and crop to crop, unlike most conventional extraction processes that cause volatile elements to detach or become altered, thus changing the end profile of the extract.
Formulex™ extracts are safe and effective for external use. They may be added to emulsions, gels, sprays used in cosmetics, skin and hair care, household and laundry, as well as pet care products. Formulex™ has far more flexibility in providing the formulator with a variety of compatible liquid carriers or carrier blends: water, glycerin, propylene glycol, butylene glycol or alcohols. Also available are less common carriers such as: honey, liquid sugars, corn syrups, fruit juices, vegetable or mineral oils… even surfactants. Preservative options include, but are not limited to, benzyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol, parabens, caprylyl glycol, capryloyl glycine, imidazolidinyl urea, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate.
Formuplex™
Simply stated, Formuplex™ extract blends are made from Formulex™ botanical extracts and represent the “natural benefit progression” from single extracts to multi-blends. Naturally, they utilize the same proprietary extraction technology to produce either our suggested-use blends or your own custom blend. Blends of double, triple, a dozen or more different Formulex™ botanical extracts can be customized, making projects a little easier for formulators and marketers alike. One important benefit of blends is that they are often more cost-effective, as they require MOQs on fewer ingredients and are less labor intensive.
Blending various botanicals for their combined synergistic effects can address numerous formulation needs. Vege Tech can provide suggested-use blends that target known specific issues. For instance, a typical Formuplex™ blend for a dry skin lotion formulation might include Burdock, Echinacea, Calendula, Aloe Vera and Yellow Root extracts. Or Cayenne, Ginger, Ginkgo Biloba and Gotu Kola are plants associated with promoting circulation.
